Introduction

For this assignment we have been asked to create and film a new 'ident' for BBC 2. An ident is a short, creative advert shown briefly in between programs to reinforce the brand identity of BBC 2. The reason we have to do a video shoot is to extend our visual skills, composition, use of lighting, colour, lenses, perspectives, preparation, time management skills, etc. which are the same disciplines as we use in Photography. The preparation and planning of this shoot is critical to success alongside teamwork in our chosen groups. We are allowed to use any location to create our idents, and we have been given permission to use the studio if we want. If we are going to use an object for the number 2 then we have to make it ourself in the D&T section of college. Within our groups, we have been given specific roles and have to work together to produce our final piece. The roles within our groups are;

• Cameraman - Dv video camera operator.
• Lighting Technician - Studio lighting or ambient daylight
• Set Designer - Make use of the college departments and varied resources
• Prop Stylist - To source props and adjust styling during the shooting
• Editor - Concentrate on editing software and pulling all of the shots together

BBC2 (1991-2001) Idents - The Best of the Best

I researched previous BBC 2 idents on youtube to try and get some ideas to add to my own. I really like the second advert but we wouldn't be able to interpret it into our own ideas as it's made on the computer and we have to film our adverts. I like it because it reminds me of the Playstation open up screen, which is probably where BBC got the idea from.
